Kobe

“I don’t want to be the next Michael Jordan, I only want to be Kobe Bryant.”

I am wearing the Kobe 9 “Maestro” in this photo from 2016. The shoe released during 2014 All-Star Weekend.

Death of a legend

On January 26, 2020, a legendary basketball player by the name of Kobe Bryant died. Bryant impacted the game of basketball and influenced a numerous amount of players around the world.

How he changed the game

Also, he changed the basketball shoe industry. His fourth signature shoe, Kobe 4, reintroduced the idea of low top sneakers and gave them notoriety. During his time in the NBA, Bryant’s signature shoe line consisted of lower cut shoes.

The best Kobe signature line sneakers

  1. Nike Kobe VI ‘Grinch’
  2. Nike Kobe IV ‘Carpe Diem’
  3. Nike Kobe V ‘Chaos’

Reselling

My favorite Kobe shoe silhouette is the Kobe 8. I have slim chances of buying another pair because his untimely death increased the prices.

For example, Kobe 6 “Grinch” was $700 a year ago and now, the price has tripled. Other items of his merchandise have seen the same rise in price. I questioned if people are trying to profit off his legacy or protect it with very high rates. For me, I would keep his shoes or jerseys out of respect for him.

Paying Respect

Please pray or send your condolences to the families that were affected by the helicopter crash. The crash showed people around the world that death is near by. When I heard the news, I called my loved ones and told them how much I loved them. It is strange how tragic events bring people closer together.

I was amazed to see how many basketball players were affected by his death. The death of Kobe Bryant displays his influence to the NBA.

There will be no one like Kobe Bryant. There may never be a top-notch, well-known shoe like his signature shoe line. Kobe and his shoes represented self- discipline and hardworking.

Kobe, thank you for your life, your Mamba mentality, and your shoes. Even though I am not you, I will continue to say, “Kobe,” when taking shots on the courts.
